Four International Medal Winning Boxers Honored

The Nepal Sports Council (NSC) and the Nepal Boxing Federation (NBF) honored four Nepali boxers who brought international recognition to the nation through their outstanding performances at a special felicitation ceremony held in Kathmandu on 7th August 2026.

The program recognized the achievements of Chandra Bahadur Thapa, Arpil Rana, Lal Prasad Upreti, and Anjani Teli for their remarkable performances in international boxing competitions.

The honored athletes received cash awards in recognition of their achievements. Chandra Bahadur Thapa was presented with NPR 50,000 for winning silver medal in IBA World Men's Boxing Championship 2025 in 54kg and Lal Prasad Upreti (51kg) weight category with NPR. 10,000 for reaching Quarterfinals in same event held in Dubai. Arpil Rana received NPR 20,000 for winning silver medal in Asian Boxing U22 Men's Championships 2025 in 50kg weight category held in Thailand, Bangkok, while Anjani Teli was awarded NPR 10,000 for reaching quarterfinals in IBA Women's World Boxing Championships 2023 at 52kg weight category held in New Delhi, India.

The awards were presented by NSC Member Secretary Mr. Ram Charitra Mehta in the presence of NBF President Mr. Ram Awale, Secretary General Mr. Man Bahadur Bhandari, Secretary Mr. Pushkar Raj Pant, members of the Nepal Boxing Federation Executive Committee, coaches, officials, and distinguished guests. Speaking on the occasion, the officials congratulated the athletes for their dedication and achievements, expressing confidence that they would continue to bring pride and glory to Nepal in future international competitions.
